The Most Eco-Friendly Disposable Tableware: Sugarcane Bagasse Disposable Tableware

In the late 20th century, as global concerns over plastic pollution intensified, environmental enterprises and research institutions in Europe and the United States began exploring natural fibers—such as sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw, and bamboo fiber—as alternatives to plastics for developing disposable biodegradable tableware. The U.S., Germany, and the Netherlands emerged as pioneers in this movement. The U.S., one of the first nations to recognize the environmental hazards of plastic pollution, launched a government and NGO-driven "Zero Waste" initiative. Early adopters of this shift began importing sugarcane bagasse raw materials from China and South America to develop and produce compostable disposable tableware. In Europe, stringent EU environmental regulations disrupted the market for single-use plastics, accelerating the adoption and production of sugarcane bagasse-based alternatives.  

As international demand for eco-friendly products grew, particularly in Western markets, forward-thinking Chinese companies began experimenting with sugarcane bagasse to create molded pulp products, including plates, bowls, and takeout containers. Among them, **Sincere Eco Technology Co., Ltd.**, based in northern China, embarked on producing sugarcane bagasse eco-friendly tableware. After over five years of development, the company has initiated its first-phase project with a total investment of RMB 120 million. The facility spans 39,600 square meters, with a floor area of 12,000 square meters, housing automated production workshops and supporting infrastructure for manufacturing biodegradable plant fiber tableware and foodservice products. Leveraging three-dimensional pulp molding technology and fully automated equipment, the project aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 600 million fully biodegradable plant fiber tableware items, positioning the company to swiftly enter the global disposable tableware market amid the worldwide phaseout of single-use plastics.  

The current product lineup includes models sugarcane disposable containers, sugarcane paper plates, bagasse food box, sugarcane bagasse trays among others, with support for customization and printing services to meet diverse client needs.
